The following request came to us from one of our our customers:

"As you might know we already are for many years busy with creating a new city center. In the mean time the public area is ready. A square with fountain, a box for plants and a (permanent) wooden stage is part of this public area. When individuals or organizations want to use this stage, they have to make a temporary coverage of the stage themselves in case of bad weather.

We know your company makes beautiful and functional canopies and other coverages all over the world, made of plastics, synthetic fabric and so on. Would you like to have a discussion with us about implementation of such canopy in our public area? Most important; the construction must be dismountable and removable and be weather resistant. And on top of that we like your elegant designs. As we have brand new pavement please pay special attention to fixation to the soil."

Design assignment

Due to this request we visited the client and the site. Based on this visit a design assignment was defined:

Client: Community in the middle of the Netherlands

Assignment: Design of a dismountable canopy of a city center square

Requirement/requests:

1. Simple removable construction
2. An optional rear wall
3. Surface area about 50-60 sqm
4. Construction to be erected by local people
5. Entrance facing the horeca square

Based on this design order and demands we made a design. An impression of the final design is shown below.
