In drying and storage of large volumes of unions and potatoes, proper aeration of the product is of utmost importance. Amongst others this is achieved by ventilation between the lines of piles of crates containing the unions and potatoes.

For optimal ventilation the space between the lines, being between 40 and 50 cm, should be closed using inflatable  channel valves

Due to these closures air is forced through the side walls of the crates, increasing efficiency of aeration. The number of crates per line can be increased due to this efficiency increase. The vertical inflatable valve van be simply re-positioned using a rail system, such that the number of piled crates can vary.
