Glass fiber cloth can be made of fine woven fiber of glass only or be impregnated with silicone, with an additional polyurethane coating or with an additional metallic surface coating. Glass fiber fabric is a light, thin and flexible material, very well suited to join piping for (hot) air or steam.

A fabric expansion joint, made of glass fiber cloth, is extremely heat resistant and even non-flammable, flexible and light weighted. Several types of surface finish are possible, dependent on the application.
